Ingredients:
2 cups water
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup unsalted butter or unsalted margarine
freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional)
sour cream (optional)
cottage cheese (optional)
Method:
  1. In a saucepan combine water, milk, salt, & unsalted butter or margarine.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. While stirring constantly the liquid ingredients, slowly pour the cornmeal into the mixture.
  4. Cook, while constantly stirring, until butter is melted and mixture is thick (about 15-20 minutes).
  5. Serve topped with a spoonful of cottage cheese and sour cream.
  6. Marmaliga may also be served plain with a little sweetener or with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
